CAMDEN, Maine, September 15, 2008 -Celebrating outstanding leadership performance and significant contributions to the Company's success, Robert W. Daigle, president and chief executive officer of Camden National Corporation, presented awards to six officers at Camden National's seventh Annual Leadership Forum, which was held recently at the Point Lookout Conference Center in Northport. Award recipients included

"Each year, our award recipients are nominated by their colleagues in recognition of their commitment to our Company's performance during the past twelve months," noted Daigle. "Each award reflects the recipient's leadership, dedication, and skill in helping us deliver the Camden National Experience. We are proud of their remarkable efforts to enrich people's lives, help businesses succeed, and vitalize the communities we serve."

Receiving four nominations in several 'Commitment' categories from senior management, Ray Freitag, assistant vice president and deposit services manager for the Company, was named Officer of the Year. With 15 years of experience in operations with JP Morgan where he worked on account analysis and processing, Ray joined Camden National in 2006 as manager of deposit services. Since then, Ray has worked diligently with his team to develop and manage efficiency processes to expedite systems and enhance customer service. In addition to providing ongoing support for the Corporate Services team, Ray contributed to the success of the merger process following the Camden National Corporation's acquisition of Union Bankshares Company.

Sarah Tolman, branch manager at the Camden Square location, received the Commitment to the Customer Award, which recognizes an officer who consistently strives to offer a client experience second to none. Since joining Camden National's Customer Assistance Center in 2003, Sarah has taken responsibility to improve technology and use new and existing tools to enhance every customer interaction. During the acquisition of Union Bankshares, Sarah managed the Customer Assistance Center to complete the integration of two phone systems and at the same time moved into a new role as Camden Square branch manager. As the manager of the Customer Assistance Center, Sarah coached her staff to ensure timely and accurate communication. As the branch manager at Camden Square, Sarah revamped the interior lobby to improve customer access.

As assistant branch manager for the Ellsworth Plaza branch of Union Trust, a division of Camden National Bank, Melody Wright was recognized with the Commitment to the Community Award. Presented to an individual who passionately and consistently contributes to the social well being of the communities served, this award reflects Melody's volunteer efforts as well as her work with the Ellsworth Plaza branch team annually to support a large community project. Under Melody's leadership, the team surpassed their goal of $10,000 for 2008 by raising more than $16,000 for The Shriners Children's Hospital to benefit their burn and orthopedic programs. In recognition of her phenomenal fundraising efforts, positive spirit and countless hours of personal time, the Shriners elected Melody as the only non-Shriner into their 'Circle of Champions'. Melody Wright joined Union Trust in May 1988 as a teller, working her way up to supervisor and now assistant branch manager.

Presented with the Commitment to Core Values Award, Cindy Davis-Pinkham, assistant vice president and branch manager for the Milbridge location of Union Trust, a division of Camden National Bank, was honored for living the Company's five guiding Core Values -Honesty and Integrity, above all else; Trust, built on fairness; Service, second to none; Responsibility, to use our resources for the greater good; and Excellence, through hard work and lifelong learning. Since joining Union Trust as a teller in 1984, Cindy has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility including head teller, teller training coordinator, branch supervisor, customer services officer, and teller services officer. Cindy took on additional projects during the merger process to ensure a smooth transition for her colleagues and customers. Named a branch manager in June 2008, Cindy manages the day-to-day functions of the Milbridge branch and staff and develops consumer as well as business relationships.

In recognition of his exceptional service to his fellow employees, Camden National's vice president and senior systems technician, Jim Callnan, received the Commitment to the Employee Award.
